Wedding Anniversary Flowers in Kyiv: Counting the Years in Stems
An anniversary is your own date, so flowers here work as a reminder rather than an obligation. Below: how many stems match your years together, how to set the bouquet on the table for a dinner at home, and what to write on the card so that it sounds like you, not like a template.

How it worksA bouquet that takes you back to that day
Only the two of you know what your date really means, and that is its strength: it needs no “right” bouquet, only a recognisable one. Think back to the flowers at the wedding, on the first date, or on the day you realised this was for the long haul — and give them again. Everything below works just as well for the anniversary of a relationship as for a wedding.
This is where a mono-bouquet has the edge: one variety is easy to repeat. An old bouquet of five different flowers cannot be recreated from memory, but “the same roses” or “the same eustoma” can. If the variety is in stock you will see it in the catalogue; if not, choose one close in character — eustoma resembles a rose but is softer.
Not sure which flowers they were? Look through the wedding photographs: flowers are easier to make out in a picture than to recall. You can also ask one of the guests, or whoever put the wedding bouquet together.
How many stems: counting the years together
There is a lovely custom: one stem for every year together. It works while the number still fits comfortably in a vase; after that, it is better to count some other way. By a widespread tradition the number of stems is odd, so for even years (10, 20, 30) one more is added. The price of a stem does not change with the quantity, so the only difference is the size of the gift.

The silver date: a stem for every year
A silver wedding is exactly 25 years, so the stems match: 25 and 25, with no rounding. This size also suits any other anniversary when you want a generous armful that needs nothing added. A single variety in this quantity looks assured.

Golden fifty, and one more
For a golden anniversary: fifty stems for the years plus one more so the total stays odd — on the card that extra stem can be signed “for the year ahead”. It is a genuinely large bouquet, so plan on two or three vases or one tall one: rose stems are typically 50–80 cm. On any other date it is simply a very generous gesture.

An anniversary with guests
A hundred and one stems is no longer about years but about the scale of the evening: it is the number people choose when the anniversary is celebrated with guests and the bouquet is meant to be the centrepiece of the room. Decide in advance whether you have enough vases and where they will stand.

What to weigh before you order
Small things that decide whether the bouquet will suit your particular evening. Which varieties and shades are in stock today is shown in the catalogue.
- Scent at the table
- The flowers will sit beside the food, so scent matters. Eustoma has almost none, chrysanthemums a faint herbal one, and with roses it depends on the variety. If the dinner will be a long one and strong scents tire you, choose eustoma.
- How long it lasts
- Chrysanthemums 10–14 days, eustoma 7–10, roses 5–7. If the anniversary falls on a Friday and you want the bouquet to greet you on Monday too, any of the three will do; if you want a margin of time, chrysanthemums are the safer choice.
- Stem length
- Roses are typically 50–80 cm, chrysanthemums 50–70, eustoma 50–60. For a vase on the floor or a chest of drawers that is convenient; for a dining table it is too tall — below, how to shorten the bouquet for the table so nothing goes to waste.
- The early years
- When you have fewer years together than a generous bouquet has stems, do not choose flowers to fit the number. Put the years on the card rather than counting them in stems — it sounds more personal. The quantity each variety is sold from is shown on its page.
How to dress a dinner at home with flowers
If you are celebrating at home, the bouquet can be part of the table setting rather than a gift set down to one side. Here is an order that works:
Morning or the day before: flowers into water
Get the bouquet in good time, unwrap it, trim the stems at an angle and stand the flowers in clean water somewhere cool. By evening they will have had a good drink and will look fresh on the table, not just out of the wrapping.
Split the bouquet between two vases
Take some of the flowers for the table and shorten their stems so that the bouquet in the vase stays low: then you can see each other and not the leaves. Leave the rest longer and put it in the sitting room or bedroom, where you will spend the evening. A bouquet of 25 stems makes both a low arrangement for the table and a small bouquet for a room.
Candles near, but not touching
Candles beside flowers look lovely, but the flame must not touch petals or leaves, and scented candles should not drown out the flowers’ own scent.
If it is a surprise: the window and the phone number
At checkout you choose a delivery window — pick one when the person is certain to be there. Before dispatch we send a photo of the bouquet, and the courier phones before arriving: if it is a surprise, leave the number of someone who will be there and knows about it, not the person the flowers are for.
If it is your friends’ or parents’ anniversary
A couple is two people, not only the wife. The flowers will stand in a shared room, so choose a variety without a sharp scent — eustoma or chrysanthemums — and address the card to both. That way it never feels as if one of them was congratulated and the other just happened to be standing nearby.
For parents marking a silver or golden wedding, the count of “a stem for a year” fits especially well: the number can be said aloud as you hand over the bouquet. Chrysanthemums also win on practical grounds: of the three they last the longest, so the flowers will still be a reminder of the celebration once the guests have gone.
What to write on the card
We add a handwritten card free of charge — you write the text in the order comment. For an anniversary, specifics work better than generalities: a number, a date, a shared detail. A few starting points:
- “Twenty-five stems, one for each of our years. Thank you for every one.”
- “Seven years, and I am still happy when you walk into the room. Happy anniversary.”
- “Remember which flowers were there that day? Here they are again.”
- “Thirty years together, and the evenings with you are still my favourites.”
- “Mum, Dad, twenty-five years together is an example to us. Happy anniversary.”
Questions and answers
How many flowers should I give for a wedding anniversary?
A widespread guide is as many stems as years together, and it works most naturally on round dates such as 25 years. If the number of years is even, it is customary to add one more stem so the total stays odd. For the other years choose by the situation: 25 stems is a generous bouquet for any anniversary, 51 suits a golden date or a big gesture. The price of a stem does not depend on the quantity, so go by the vase and the recipient.
Which flowers are given for a wedding anniversary?
The classic is roses; a softer option is eustoma, which has almost no scent and so does not get in the way at a table; chrysanthemums are chosen when you want the bouquet to last 10–14 days. The most personal choice is to repeat the flowers from your wedding or first date: which varieties and shades are in stock is shown in the catalogue.
When should I order flowers for an anniversary?
The date is known well ahead, so do not leave the order until the last evening. Online ordering opens 7 days before the delivery date, and if you want to secure the flowers earlier, phone us. You choose a convenient delivery window at checkout.
Can the flowers be delivered as a surprise, to work or to home?
Yes: delivery across Kyiv takes 2–3 hours, the flowers can go to a home or a work address, and you choose the window at checkout. Before dispatch we send a photo of the bouquet, and the courier phones before arriving, so for a surprise leave the number of someone who will be there and knows about it.
What should I write on the card with anniversary flowers?
Specific beats general: the year, the number, a small detail that only the two of you know. We add a handwritten card free of charge, and you type the text when you place the order. A few examples are given above, in the section on the card.
How long do flowers last after an anniversary?
Chrysanthemums last 10–14 days, eustoma 7–10, roses 5–7. To make them last longer, trim the stems at an angle, change the water daily and keep the vase away from a radiator or direct sun.
