Wedding Flowers in Kyiv

At a wedding, flowers do two different jobs: the bride’s bouquet, where every stem is seen up close, and the hall, where the count runs to tens or hundreds of stems of one variety. Below: how to count, which variety suits the hall, and what to agree with us in advance.

The bride and the tables: two different jobs

The bride’s bouquet is looked at closely and all day: it is held at the ceremony, in the photos and on the dance floor, and every small thing — colour, stem length, weight — shows. A moderate number of stems of one variety wins here, chosen for the dress and for the hand that will hold it.

The hall works the other way round. Tables, the welcome corner and the ceremony spot are seen from a distance and all at once, so what counts is not the individual stem but repetition: one variety on every table reads as a plan, a mix of several as a coincidence. And that is where the arithmetic begins: ten tables at nine stems each is already ninety.

So it helps to split the order in two and not hold both halves in your head at once. We sell flowers of one variety made up as a bouquet; what becomes of them — smaller bouquets, vases on the tables or material for a decorator — is up to you. So is who will assemble the arrangements: you, a decorator or the venue’s florist.

How to count the stems for a wedding

The formula is simple: first count the places where flowers will stand, then multiply. Five steps, and instead of “roughly” you have a number.

  1. Count the tables, not the guests

A vase goes on a table, not in front of every guest. With fifty guests and eight seats to a table, that is seven tables and seven vases, not fifty.

  2. Decide how many stems go in a vase

A low vase for a guest table usually takes 7–9 stems, a generous armful for the head table or the welcome corner 15–25. It is a guide, not a rule: go by the vases the hall actually has, and remember the stems will need trimming.

  3. Add the places that are easy to forget

The welcome table, the ceremony spot, the cake table, a photo corner by the entrance. Count an arch or a flower wall separately, together with whoever will build it: the number depends on the construction, and this is where it is easiest to go wrong.

  4. Separately, bouquets for people

The bride’s bouquet — by common tradition an odd number of stems — and, if you like, smaller bouquets for the mothers, the witnesses and the bride’s friends. The lowest number of stems for each variety is shown on its page, so for small bouquets choose varieties where that number is low.

  5. Leave a reserve

A few stems beyond the calculation are insurance: one broken or unevenly opened stem should not spoil a vase. How many you need depends on the variety and the volume.

What 25, 51 and 101 stems mean

The price per stem is the same at any quantity, so these three numbers are not price bands but the scale of the idea:

  • 25 stems

    25

The bride’s bouquet or one large vase

An armful of one variety: comfortable to hold in both hands, and on a table it becomes the centre of an arrangement. For a bouquet it is a confident choice — visible in every frame, but no heavier than what you can carry all evening.

  • 51 stems

    51

The bride and those closest to her

51 stems of one variety can be divided into the bride’s bouquet and a few smaller ones — for the mothers, the witnesses, the friends: all in one variety and tone, so the group photo looks whole. You divide the bouquets yourself. The same 51 stems also cover a welcome corner with a few vases.

  • 101 stems

    101

    A hall of several tables

This is the scale of a hall: ten vases of nine stems of one variety and a few more for the bride’s bouquet and a reserve. The same variety on every table looks whole, and counting this way is simpler than assembling several varieties. If there are more tables, add a few more portions like it. A hundred and one stems in one bouquet is a gesture of its own with a weight of its own: you do not dance with it, you put it in water.

Which variety suits the hall: scent, height, days in the vase

A wedding day is hours in a warm hall, near food, candles and people. So we look at scent, height and how many days the flowers last in a vase (when the variety is in stock):

Roses
5–7 days in a vase, stems usually 50–80 cm, cut down for low vases. The classic choice for the bride’s bouquet. The scent depends on the variety, so for tables with food pick one with a softer scent.
Eustoma
7–10 days in a vase, almost no scent, stems usually 50–60 cm. Sits calmly on tables where food is served and looks lighter and airier than a rose.
Freesia
5–7 days in a vase and a noticeable scent, stems usually 40–50 cm. Lovely by the entrance and in the welcome corner, but at a dining table its scent can compete with the food.
Height on the table
At dinner guests need to see one another, so guest tables usually get low vases and the tall ones are kept for the welcome corner and the head table. A long stem can always be shortened and a short one cannot be lengthened, so take length with room to spare.
After the day
The flowers do not have to end with the wedding: trim the stems at an angle and put the bouquet in clean water — roses will stand a few more days at home, eustoma longer.

A hundred stems of one variety: what to agree in advance

For a wedding, “in bulk” means many stems of one variety and one clear figure at the end. That is how we work. Our team has spent 20+ years in wholesale flowers, and the flowers come to you straight from the warehouse, supplied directly from Kenya, Ecuador and other countries. The price per stem does not depend on quantity: a hundred stems cost exactly a hundred times what one costs. There are no price steps that depend on volume.

What depends on volume is not the price of a stem but availability. Whether the quantity of your variety is there on your date is decided by the supply, so do not wait for the last week: phone as soon as the date and the variety are settled. Online ordering opens 7 days before the delivery date, and to reserve a large quantity earlier you need to call.

If the ceremony is in the morning, choose delivery the day before: the flowers spend the night in water somewhere cool. You choose the delivery window at checkout, the courier phones before arriving, and for a wedding give the number of whoever will receive the flowers: the venue manager, the decorator or someone close. We send a photo of the bouquet before dispatch.

What to write on the card

The handwritten card is free: you type the text when you place the order. Couples often receive many bouquets, so write it so that it is still clear a month later who the flowers are from, and the warmth still shows. If you are a guest, a compact bouquet of one variety that is easy to hold, with a card that carries your name, is a practical choice. A few options:

  • “To the two of you: many quiet mornings and long evenings. A happy beginning!”
  • “To our daughter and our son-in-law: may there always be a reason to put flowers in a vase in your home.”
  • “From friends who remember how it all began. Love to you, and patience with each other.”
  • “Thank you for saying yes. Everything else — together.”

Questions and answers

How many stems do I need for a wedding?

Count the tables, not the guests, and multiply by the stems per vase: usually 7–9 for a low vase. Add the bride’s bouquet, the welcome corner, the ceremony spot and a few stems in reserve. For a hall of ten tables that is already about a hundred stems of one variety.

Does the price per stem change if I order a lot?

No: the price per stem is the same at any quantity, so a hundred stems cost exactly a hundred times the price of one. It keeps the arithmetic simple: the cost of the flowers for the hall is the number of stems times the price of one. The lowest number of stems for each variety is shown on its page.

How far ahead should I order wedding flowers?

Online ordering opens 7 days before the delivery date. For a large quantity of one variety it is better to phone as soon as the date and the variety are settled: whether the quantity is available depends on the supply, and reserving earlier is possible only by phone.

Will you deliver flowers to a restaurant or a venue?

Yes, we deliver across Kyiv in 2–3 hours: to a restaurant, a venue or a decorator. You choose the delivery window at checkout and the courier phones before arriving, so give the number of whoever will receive the flowers. Whether they can be brought into the venue before a certain hour is worth asking the venue itself.

Which variety suits tables where food is served?

Eustoma sits most calmly on such tables: it has almost no scent. The scent of roses depends on the variety, so for tables pick a softer one. Freesia has a noticeable scent: at a dining table it can compete with the dishes, at the entrance it is welcome. What is in stock is shown in the catalogue.

Is it better to receive the flowers the day before or on the day?

If the ceremony is in the morning or there are many vases, it is easier to receive the flowers the day before: trim the stems at an angle and stand them in clean water somewhere cool. If the wedding is in the evening, delivery can be set for that morning.
